Jones and Ewen Receive Weekly Awards from Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – A 3-0 week for the Bentley women's soccer team saw two of its student-athletes earn weekly awards from the Northeast-10. Senior midfielder Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) was named the Player of the Week and sophomore Claire Ewen (Arlington, Mass./Arlington) was named the Goalkeeper of the Week.

Jones had a point in all three matches as the Falcons defeated No. 15 ranked Mercy in a non-conference match and Pace and Le Moyne in NE10 matches.

In the 2-1 victory over Mercy on Oct. 10 she had the assist off a corner kick on the eventual game-winning goal by Jill Hendriksen in the 32nd minute. Jones scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 64th minute in the 2-1 triumph over Pace on Oct. 12.

Then on Saturday, she again provided the assist on the game-winning goal. Off her corner kick, freshman Scarlett D'Amico scored in the 44th minute in the 1-0 victory over Le Moyne.

Jones currently leads the Falcons in both assists (4) and points (12) and she is tied for the team lead in goals (4) with Liliana Silva.

This is the first time she has earned an NE10 weekly award.

Ewen made four saves in 45 minutes of action against Mercy. She then played all 90 minutes against both Pace and Le Moyne and made six saves against the Setters, which was one off her season high. Saturday's shutout of Le Moyne was her 4th of the season.

She totaled a .917 save percentage and a 0.40 GAA in the three matches.

This is the first time she has earned an NE10 weekly award.

Bentley's record now stands at 6-5-3 overall and 4-4-1 NE10. They will be back in action on Tuesday with a home match against Saint Michael's at 3:00 PM.
