Cherry and Goulet Selected to NEWISA Senior Bowl

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Maeli Cherry (Westford, Mass./Westford Academy) and Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) were selected to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl.

The NEWISA Senior Bowl brings together student-athletes from Division I, II and III women's soccer programs in New England. To be eligible for selection, a student-athlete must be set to graduate from either undergraduate or graduate studies during the 2021-22 academic year.

Cherry and Goulet are two of 12 selections from Division II programs in New England.

Cherry, along with Saint Anselm's Travis Pratt, were the leading vote getters among defenders. Cherry started all 17 of Bentley's matches and was second on the team in minutes played.

She was a stalwart member of Bentley's backline, which helped the Falcons post some of the best defensive numbers in the NE10 this season. The team conceded just 14 goals in 17 matches, and just 10 goals in 13 NE10 matches in the regular season, third fewest in the NE10. She also contributed offensively with two assists.

A team captain this season, Cherry was also recognized for her work in the classroom when she was voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 Team for women's soccer. That makes her eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America team selection.

Goulet, a team captain as well, was voted first team All NE10 as a midfielder. She too started all 17 matches and led the team in minutes played. Along with junior midfielder Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury), the two tied for the team lead in each of goals (5), assists (3) and points (13). Three of Goulet's goals this season were game-winners.
