Bentley Uses Three Different Goal Scores and Strong Defense to Down Le Moyne 3-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley received goals from three different players and kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 Northeast-10 victory over Le Moyne on Saturday.

All three Falcons goals came in the second half. The goal scorers were Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington), junior Brooke Jones (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) and freshman Sydney O'Connor (New Fairfield, Conn./New Fairfield).

Senior Emily McGrath (Brewster, Mass./Nauset Regional) had two assists on the day.

Graduate student goalkeeper Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) helped Bentley keep the clean sheet. It was her 15th career shutout and 4th of the season.

Bentley dominated the opening 45 minutes as they held the Dolphins to zero shots, while taking 13 themselves. But Le Moyne goalkeeper Allison Moreau made seven saves in the first half.

Once the second half kicked off, it didn't take long for the Falcons to turn that dominance into goals. Goulet scored just 49 seconds into the half, her 5th goal of the season.

The goal came after Rebecca Nguyen (Dudley, Mass./Shepherd Hill) played a through ball down the left wing to McGrath. McGrath then played a centering pass into the 18-yard box that Goulet ran on to, took one touch and fired her shot past Moreau to the far post.

Bentley then made it 2-0 when Jones scored her 4th goal of the season in the 61st minute. Goulet had two initial shots on goal from close range saved by Moreau. But the rebound of her second attempt fell to Jones, who scored from eight yards out to double Bentley's lead.

The score became 3-0 in the 82nd minute when O'Connor netted her 5th of the year. McGrath chipped a long pass from the center of the field towards the Le Moyne goal. O'Connor chased it down, took a touch and placed her shot under Moreau for the goal from 10 yards out.

Bentley finished the game with a 16-3 edge in shots on goal. They improved to 6-4-1 in the NE10 with the victory.

With just two matches left in the regular season, they will play their final road match of the regular season on Friday at Saint Michael's.
