Carey’s Goal Enough to See AIC Slip Past Bentley 1-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – AIC's Reese Carey scored in the 64th minute to help the Yellow Jackets to a 1-0 victory over Bentley University on Friday night.

The game was played on the football field in front of a big crowd. Prior to the game, eight Falcons student-athletes were recognized for their contributions to the program on Senior Night.

Carey scored from close range after Rachel Newman sent a free kick into the box from about 50 yards away.

Bentley pushed on for the equalizer over the remaining time but could not find the tying goal. Its closest chance came in 88th minute from senior back Maeli Cherry (Westford, Mass./Westford).

Cherry launched a shot from the right wing from about 30 yards out that appeared headed for the top of the net, but AIC keeper Tamra Zippin got her palms to it for the save.

The game ended with both teams having 11 shots.

The Falcons dropped to 5-4-3 overall and 5-3-1 NE10, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 5-5-1 and 3-5 NE10.
