Five Student-Athletes to Serve as Captains of Bentley Women’s Soccer for 2021 Season

Waltham, Mass. – With fall sports set to resume this September, Bentley University women's soccer head coach Lauren Lukis has announced the five student-athletes that will captain the team for the 2021 season.

The five captains will be graduate students Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) and Megan Doubleday (Wolcott, Conn./Wolcott) and seniors Rebecca Nguyen (Dudley, Mass./Shepherd Hill), Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington), and Maeli Cherry (Westford, Mass./Westford).

All five were key members of Bentley's 2019 team that earned the program's first ever bid to the NCAA Tournament and posted a 10-8-2 overall record. That season also included a win over Southern New Hampshire in the NE10 Quarterfinals.

Hassapis, a goalkeeper, was named second team All-NE10 for the 2019 season after she led the conference with eight shutouts. Goulet, a midfielder, was voted second team All-NE10 as well after she led the team in both goals and points. Nguyen, also a midfielder, started 18 matches, scored two goals and notched two assists and averaged nearly 80 minutes on the field per game.

Doubleday and Cherry were both key players in Bentley's defensive unit in 2019 that posted some eye popping numbers. The team finished with 10 shutouts in 20 matches and had a shutout streak of 531 minutes that stretched over six matches.

The Falcons will get the 2021 season started at home, on Friday, Sept. 3 when they take on Molloy.
