On This Day, 2018: Silva, Hassapis Help Bentley Women’s Soccer Top Assumption, 1-0

On October 2, 2018, freshman Liliana Silva scored in the 49th minute and goalkeeper Kat Hassapis made several big saves to help the Bentley women's soccer team to a 1-0 home victory over Assumption.

Silva's goal and Hassapis' seven saves helped the Falcons pick up a big three points over their NE10 rivals.

Following a scoreless first half, Bentley scored the game's only goal in the fourth minute of the second half. A run from midfield by sophomore Emily McGrath led to a pass to Silva just outside of the penalty area. Once in possession, Silva dribbled around a defender and ripped a shot from 15 yards to the far corner to break the scoreless deadlock.

Hassapis helped the lead stand up with some big saves. She twice denied Assumption's Annie Irwin, first in the 74th minute and again in the 81st to keep Bentley in front.

With the win, Bentley improved to 3-4-1 overall on the season and 2-3 NE10, while the Greyhounds dropped to 3-2-1 overall and 1-2-1 NE10.
