Women’s Soccer Begins 2019 Season Friday at Molloy Kickoff Classic

Waltham, Mass. – The first ball of the 2019 season for the Bentley Falcons women's soccer team will be kicked on Friday when the Falcons take on Dominican (N.Y.) at the Molloy Kickoff Classic.

The match gets underway at 4:00 pm on Friday and a live stream will be available at the following link: https://molloylions.com/sports/2017/6/7/lions-sports-network.aspx

The Falcons will play their second match of the Kickoff Classic on Sunday when they take on the hosts Molloy at 4:00 pm.

After this weekend, each of Bentley's matches the rest of the season can be seen on NE10 Now

The Falcons will enter 2019 coming off their second winning season in three seasons (with the other being a .500 mark in 2017). They went 7-6-3 in 2018, with a 6-6-2 mark in the NE10, and were in the hunt for a playoff spot until the final day of the season.

Over the last three seasons the team has compiled a 24-20-6 record.

A number of key players return from last season's team in all areas of the field. Senior Stephanie Helin (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic), a team captain, has led the team in points in each of goals, assists and points in each of the last two seasons, with totals of 10 goals and 10 assists and 30 points.

Junior Emma Guccione (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) is the second leading returning scorer after she scored four goals and handed out three assists last season. While seniors Kelly Donlon (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney) and McKenna Hiller (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe Woodbury) add an attacking threat from the midfield.

Sophomores Emily McGrath (Brewster, Mass./Nauset) and Dana Goulet (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) will be looking to build upon strong freshmen seasons where they finished in the top-five on the team in points.

Defensively, seniors and team captains Riane Hunt (Millis, Mass./Millis) and Sammy Millmann (Northport, N.Y./Northport) should lead the way. Hunt has been a mainstay at center back in her Bentley career and has started 44 of a possible 50 matches. In 2017 she was second on the team in minutes played with over 1400, and last season played every minute in five different matches.

Millmann excelled as a fullback last season and was named to both the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 team and the NE10 Academic All-Conference team for her efforts. She started 15 matches and logged nearly 1,200 minutes throughout the season.

In goal, junior Kat Hassapis (North Reading, Mass./North Reading) and senior Renee Perkins (Nantucket, Mass./Lawrence Academy) each saw action as they both started eight matches.

Following this weekend's matches, the Falcons will play their home opener on September 14 against Westminster (Utah). The NE10 opener is at home as well, on September 18 against New Haven.

Other key dates see the Falcons host Saint Rose on September 28 and travel to Franklin Pierce on October 5. Southern New Hampshire visits on October 22, and the regular season comes to a close on November 5 at Saint Anselm.
