Tantum Named 2nd Team All-Conference; Helin & Hunt Voted All-Rookie

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Ana Tantum (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull HS) was voted a 2nd team All-Northeast-10 Conference forward by the conference's head coaches, it was announced Friday. Teammates Stephanie Helin (Manchester, Conn./East Catholic HS) and Riane Hunt (Millis/Millis HS) were both voted to the All-Rookie team.

Tantum led a strong season for the Falcons that saw them in contention for the NE-10 playoffs on the final day of the regular season. She finished the regular season 5th in the conference in goals (10) and T-5th in points (24). Four of her 10 goals went down as game-winners, three of which were in NE-10 victories over New Haven, Franklin Pierce and Saint Michael's.

Tantum, who was also recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 team, finished her Bentley career T-2nd in goals (28) and 4th in points (67) in the program's history. She was also named 2nd team All-Conference last season as a junior.

Helin, a midfielder, finished her freshman season 3rd on the team in both goals (4) and points (10), despite missing four games early in the season. She had two goals in a 3-0 win over Molloy on Sept. 4 in just her 2nd career game. She was named the Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week on Oct. 17 after helping Bentley to a 2-0 victory at Merrimack with a goal and assist.

Hunt started 15 matches at center back and played in all 17 during her freshman season. After playing their first two games of the season as a substitute at the Kickoff Classic, she forced her way into the starting lineup from then on and started the remaining 15. In Bentley' 2-1 win over AIC on Oct. 26, she scored a memorable free kick goal from about 30 yards out to tie the score 1-1 in the first half.

Bentley finished the 2016 with a 9-6-2 overall record, its most wins since the 2003 season.
