Two Goals for Mallico Lead Southern Conn Past Bentley

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior midfielder Jenna Mallico netted a second half double as Southern Connecticut defeated Bentley University 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 women's soccer action.

The first 45 minutes produced no goals but Mallico's second half efforts carried the Owls, ranked fifth in the east region this week, to their third straight win and 10th overall. They're now 8-1-1 in the NE-10, while the Falcons drop to 4-7-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the NE-10.

Mallico's first goal in the 61st minute was slotted into the low right hand corner of the net to give the Owls a 1-0 advantage. She hit the same spot for her second goal in the 87th minute from the top of the penalty area, this time with junior Ashleigh Tracy on the assist.

Graduate student goalie Jacquelyn Fede made four saves to get her 10th win of the season, all of which have been clean sheets.

Bentley concludes its five-game road swing Wednesday night when they visit Saint Anselm for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
