GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Bentley women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to Adelphi on the road Saturday afternoon in a Northeast-10 match. The loss is the third straight for the Falcons while the Panthers win their second in a row.
After a scoreless 33 minutes to start the match, Adelphi got on the board after freshman Donna Liotine converted a penalty kick.
The score stayed that way until a little after halftime, but senior back Lauren Lucas gave the Panthers a two goal lead in the 52nd minute. The goal came after a Liotine corner kick that Lucas collected in the box and lofted a shot into the net.
The Panthers added a third goal in the 78th minute courtesy of junior Alison Gronenthal, scoring on a breakaway after a feed from Meghan Carey.
Adelphi's freshman goalie Sam Whitney made four saves to get the win, her fourth of the season.
The Falcons drop to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the NE-10, and Adelphi improves to 5-3 and 4-3 in the league.
Bentley plays the third of its five-match road swing on Tuesday against Stonehill. Match time is 4:00 p.m.
