Bentley Set To Host Saint Anselm On Tuesday Night in NE10 Quarterfinals

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley will host Saint Anselm on Tuesday night in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Women's Lacrosse Championship. The game gets underway at 7:00 PM.

If you can't make it in person, the game will be streamed live at https://ne10now.tv/bentleyfalcons/?B=566246

Live stats will be available at https://www.bentleyfalcons.com/sports/wlax/2022-23/boxscores/20230502_u6o7.xml

The Falcons are the No. 4 seed in the bracket and the Hawks are No. 5. In this week's ILWomen/IWLCA Division II Poll, Bentley is 16th and St. Anselm 17th.

These teams played less than a week ago on April 26 and Bentley won it 14-10. They led 6-1 after the first quarter and never trailed. The Hawks did get to within 13-10 midway through the 4th quarter, but a goal by Kenzie Lupton (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Canandaigua Academy) at the 6:26 mark helped clinch the win. Falcons goalie Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) a two-time IWLCA Div. II Defensive Player of the Week this season, made 11 saves in the win.

Bentley forced Saint Anselm into 18 turnovers in that game. Nine of them were caused turnovers, with a game-high three by Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic).

The two programs have some recent postseason history. They met in the semifinals of the 2021 NE10 playoffs, a game Bentley won 13-10 on its way to defeating Adelphi in the finals to win its first NE10 championship.

The only other time they have met in the postseason was in the 2014 quarterfinals, a game St. Anselm won. But Bentley leads the all-time series 25-3.

The winner of Tuesday's game will face either the No. 1 seed Pace or the No. 8 seed Southern N.H. On the other side of the bracket, the No. 2 seed Le Moyne hosts the No.7 Assumption, and the No. 3 seed Adelphi takes on the No. 6 seed New Haven.

The semifinals are scheduled for Friday, May 5 and hosted by the higher seed in each game. The NE10 championship game is on Sunday, May 7 at the highest remaining seed.
