Wargo Named IWLCA Div. II Defensive Player of the Week for 2nd Time

WALTHAM, Mass. - Bentley University goalie Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) was named the Division II Defensive Player of the Week by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association on Tuesday.

A sophomore, this is the second time this season Wargo has earned the recognition. The first time was on March 21 after she helped Bentley to wins over nationally ranked teams St. Leo and Florida Southern.

This time Wargo helped the Falcons to a 13-8 road win over then-No. 9 ranked Adelphi on April 18. She made 10 saves, posted a 55.6 save percentage and added three ground balls in the victory. On Saturday against No. 7 Le Moyne, she made a season-high 15 saves and had a 53.6 save percentage in a close 13-10 defeat.

In the two games, she combined for 25 saves and a 54.3 save percentage.

Wargo was named the NE10 Goalie of the Week on Monday, also for the second time this season.

The Falcons shifted up to No. 15 in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA Division II rankings. They will host No. 17 Saint Anselm on Wednesday night for the final home game of the regular season.
