No. 22 Bentley Tops Franklin Pierce to Continue Perfect Start in NE10

RINDGE, N.H. – The No. 22 ranked Bentley women's lacrosse team continued its perfect start in the Northeast-10 with a 21-9 victory at Franklin Pierce on Thursday.

The Falcons improved to 3-0 in the NE10 and 3-1 overall.

Junior attacker Maeve Johnson (Duxbury, Mass./Duxbury) had a game-high five goals and sophomore Amanda Davis (Saunderstown, R.I./La Salle) had four tallies.

Courtney Dermody (Bedford, N.H./Bedford), Lindsay Dawson (Charleston, S.C./Tabor) and Caroline Affolter (Newburyport, Mass./Central Catholic) each chipped in with two goals.

Affolter had a game-high 11 draw controls and senior Sydney Lynch (Bedford, N.H./Bedford) led the way with three caused turnovers.

Franklin Pierce scored the game's opening goal, but Bentley then went on a 6-0 run that stretched into the 2nd quarter to take a 6-1 lead. After that opening goal the Ravens only scored once more in the first half as the Falcons took a 9-2 advantage into halftime.

Bentley held its largest lead of nine goals twice in the 3rd quarter. Johnson's goal at the 11:26 mark made the score 12-3 and Dermody's goal at 4:14 made it a 13-4 game.

The Falcons closed the game on a 7-1 run over the final 11:50 of the contest.

Sophomore goalie Ashlee Wargo (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) made five saves to earn the win in goal.

Bentley's next game is on March 16 against Saint Leo in Florida.
