Women’s Lacrosse Opens 2020 Season Wednesday at Molloy

Waltham, Mass. – The Bentley women's lacrosse team will begin its 2020 season on Wednesday at Molloy, the first of 16 regular season games over the next nine weeks.

The Falcons return a host of players from last season's team, and combined with a deep incoming class has the team well positioned to compete at the top of the NE10 Conference. The team is ranked 18th by the IWLCA this week.

Starting at the back the Falcons return arguably the top goalie in the NE10 in senior captain Eliza Bresler (Newton, Mass./Newton North). Last season Bresler became the first player in the program's history to be named a first team All-American. She also added the NE10 Goalie of the Year award to several other recognitions she earned.

Bresler ended the 2019 season tied for the national lead in saves (217) and ranked second in saves per game (12.76). She also dominated in ground balls and set the program's single season record with 68.

In front of her is a deep group of defensive players, led by juniors Kate Schmal (Saint James, N.Y./Smithtown East) and Dana Lewandowski (Franklin, Mass./Franklin). Schmal was named third team All-Conference last season, and Lewandowski was among the team leaders in caused turnovers with 16. Sophomore Priscilla Bibeau (Andover, Mass./Bishop Guetin) started 16 of the team's 17 games, and was second on the team with 23 caused turnovers.

In midfield and attack Bentley returns nine of its top 10 scorers from last season. Junior Julia Glavin (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich) was a second team All-Region selection after she recorded 68 points. The 55 goals she scored was the second most ever by a Bentley player in a single season.

Junior Cara McCarthy (Salem, N.H./Central Catholic) also put up big offensive numbers with 43 goals scored and was named third team All-Conference. Caroline Boudreau (Foxborough, Mass./Foxborough) had a breakout freshman season with 33 goals and was voted to the All-Rookie team.

Sophomores Glenna Gies (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Christine Fish (Slingerlands, N.Y./Guilderland) were two other players that scored double digit goals last season.

After Wednesday's game, the Falcons will play their home opener on Saturday against Mercy at 2:00 pm. All games this season will be streamed live, and links to each game can be found at https://bentleyfalcons.com/sports/wlax/2019-20/schedule
