Ernst, Ferrigno Help No. 19 Bentley Run Past Merrimack 17-3 on Senior Day

WALTHAM, Mass. – Seniors Amy Ernst (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris) and Jessica Ferrigno (Bridgewater, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) each had a career high in goals to lead 19th ranked Bentley to a 17-3 win over Merrimack on Senior Day.

Ernst had four goals and Ferrigno went for three, as the Falcons closed out the regular season with their sixth win in seven games. They finish the season 9-4 in the NE-10 and will be the No. 5 seed in the NE-10 Championship. They will play either Stonehill or New Haven in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow), Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) and Meredith Hart (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) had multiple goals as well. O'Connor had three and Brown and Hart each had two. Brown's two goals gives her an even 40 on the season.

The Falcons raced out to a 4-1 lead after less than eight minutes on two goals by O'Connor and one each by Hart and attacker Kelsey Howard (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough). O'Connor's second goal, at the 22:06 mark, started a 6-0 Falcons run that was capped by Ernst's second goal of the half. That gave Bentley a 9-1 lead with 11 minutes remaining in the half.

A Merrimack goal by midfielder Kelly Metzger ended the run, but Ferrigno started a 3-0 Bentley run to close the half with a goal just 28 seconds later. Hart and Brown, her 40th of the season, also scored during the run as they led 12-2 at halftime.

Ernst and Ferrigno each scored twice in the second half as Bentley added to its lead.

Sophomore goalie Lauren Ochs (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) made 10 saves to pick up her 10th win of the season.
