More than two decades after serving as an assistant women's basketball coach to Bentley's retired Hall of Fame coach Barbara Stevens, Ann McInerney ieturned to Bentley University as the Associate Head Coach in the fall of 2020.

McInerney returned to Waltham with a 30-year coaching resume that included 11.5 years as a head coach. She spent the previous 12 years at Holy Cross, including a year-and-a-half as the Crusaders' interim head coach.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ann McInerney back to the Bentley women's basketball program as associate head coach," said head coach C White upon her appointment. "Ann is a proven winner and one of the best coaches and recruiters in the game. Our players and program will benefit greatly from her passion, energy and expertise. Most of all, Coach Mac is a wonderful, caring person who I am extremely grateful to have on our staff.  To be able to bring Ann McInerney back to Bentley University is a home run for the entire Bentley community!"

McInerney, who owns a career record of 200-130, was also the head coach at Nichols College (1990-92), Merrimack College (1999-2005) and the University of Maine (2005-07).

"I'm ecstatic to be back at Bentley as the associate head coach", said McInerney. "As I've been told many a time, once a Falcon, always a Falcon!"

During her first tour of duty at Bentley, the Falcons posted a sensational 139-23 record with five Northeast-10 regular season titles and three conference tournament championships. There were four NCAA Division II Elite Eight trips and one appearance in the national semifinals (1997). Last year, in the team's first year of action since her return, Bentley captured the NE10 championship and earned an NCAA bid.

White was recruited by McInerney and played for the Falcons during the final two seasons of McInerney's tenure

McInerney, who led Merrimack to back-to-back Division II final four appearances in 2004 and 2005, is the only person in Northeast-10 women's basketball history to be selected as both the Coach of the Year (2004) and the Player of the Year (1989).

In addition to serving as head coach at four institutions, nearly 11 years as associate head coach at Holy Cross and her five years at Bentley, the former Assumption College standout has been an assistant coach at Merrimack (1992-94) and Harvard (2007-08).

McInerney, a resident of Shrewsbury, is a member of the Assumption and Northeast-10 Conference halls of fame. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology.
