Bench Powers #18 Bentley Past Roberts Wesleyan, 92-57

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior forward Kylie DuCharme (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington HS) and freshman guard Niya Morgen (Swampscott, Mass./St. Mary's HS) teamed for 37 points off the bench, on a combined 13 of 15 shooting, as the Bentley University women's basketball team pulled away from Roberts Wesleyan University, 92-57, Saturday afternoon in the concluding game of the Redhawks Classic at the Voller Athletic Center.

DuCharme shattered her previous career scoring best, scoring 19 points in 19:29, and Morgen, in her second career game, netted 18 on six-of-seven shooting. She played just under 22 minutes.

After seven lead changes in the first eight-and-a-half minutes, Bentley outscored the Redhawks 32-16 the remainder of the first half to take a 15-point advantage, 49-34, into intermission.

While seven different Falcons scored at least four points in the half, none was more effective than DuCharme. She played only six minutes off the bench, but scored a dozen, bettering her career-high by two, without missing a shot.

Five of her points came during a 7-0 burst late in the opening quarter, which ended with the Falcons up five, 25-20. DuCharme also scored the first five of the second quarter to produce Bentley's first ten-point lead of the game.

The Falcon advantage hit 15 for the first time on a three-pointer by Morgen with 3:36 left in the second quarter.

Bentley broke the game open with a Morgan-fueled 14-0 explosion that made it a 70-41 game with 1:18 to play in the third. In the quarter, Morgan single-handedly outscored the Redhawks, 11-8.

DuCharme, in addition to her scoring, had a game-high ten rebounds. Morgen, a team-best +35, also handed out five assists. Both were on target from deep with Morgan making three of four threes and DuCharme sinking both her attempts from distance.

Joining DuCharme and Morgen in double figures were graduate guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) and sophomore post Julie Elie (Rockland, Mass./Rockland HS), with 11 and 10 points apiece. Thompson made five of seven shots and Elie came within a rebound of a double-double.

Bentley, ranked 18th in the preseason WBCA Division II coaches poll, also received seven points apiece from senior forward Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS), sophomore guard Cassidy Yeomans (Marion, Mass./Tabor Academy) and sophomore post Ciara Norman (Roebling, N.J./Life Center Academy).

Bentley outshot the home team, 52-40 percent, and sank 10 of 19 three-pointers. Rebounds were an incredible 41-17 and second-chance points were 13-0.

On Wednesday, Bentley will host the University of New Haven in its home and Northeast-10 Conference opener.
