Four Falcons Earn All-Northeast-10 Honors for Women’s Basketball

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four members of the Bentley University women's basketball team received postseason recognition from the Northeast-10 Conference with the list headed by junior forward Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS), the team leader in scoring, rebounds and assists.

Whitmore earned second-team All-Northeast-10 recognition and senior guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) was voted to the third team. Sophomore guard Amanda Kabantu (Portland, Maine/Portland HS) made the first-ever All-Defensive Team and the All-Rookie team included freshman post Ciara Norman (Roebling, N.J./Life Center Academy).

Whitmore has had a standout season for the Falcons, one in which she's filled the stat sheet with 12.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals a game while shooting 48 percent overall, 42 percent from three and 92 percent from the charity stripe. The six-footer ranks in the top ten in the conference in points, rebounds and field goal percentage, and is tied for third in Division II in free throw percentage.

Thompson, an All-Conference honoree for the second time, produces 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists a game. She had made 47 three-pointers with a .382 accuracy rate and has made 90 percent of her free throws (28 of 31). Over her last nine games, she's scored at least 13 points seven times. On Bentley's all-time list, she is tied for tenth in most three-pointers with 154.

Kabantu has 22 steals and nine blocks this season while averaging 6.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists. She's started every game this season and has made at least half her shots in four of the last five games.

Norman, a three-time Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week, has moved into the Falcons' starting lineup, getting the nod in the last four games. She has two double-doubles this month and is averaging 7.8 points and 5.4 rebounds with a .519 field goal percentage. Norman is sixth in the Northeast-10 in points per 40 minutes (20.3) and fourth in rebounds per 40 (14.1).

Bentley, 19-9 after winning seven of its last eight, will host Pace University in the Northeast-10 semifinals Thursday at 6 pm.
