Bentley Women’s Basketball Ranked 13th in Preseason WBCA Division II Coaches Poll

WALTHAM, Mass. – The preseason WBCA Division II Coaches Poll was announced Tuesday by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and the Bentley University Falcons were ranked number 13 nationally. They were the highest ranked East Region team in the voting.

Coach C White's team was also number 12 in the D2SIDA media poll, which was also released on Tuesday.

Four starters return this season for Bentley, which was 19-9 a year ago in a season that featured capturing the Northeast-10 Conference tournament championship.

Topping the list is the All-Conference backcourt duo of grad student Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North HS) and senior Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS). Thompson scored 11.9 points a game last season, Brekke followed at 10.9, and the pair combined for 110 three-pointers.

Also among the returnees are two members of last year's NE10 All-Rookie Team, junior Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) and sophomore Amanda Kabantu (Portland, Maine/Portland HS). Whitmore averaged 8.9 points and Kabantu followed at 6.8.

Bentley will debut November 11-12 with games against Bloomfield College and Caldwell University in Caldwell's Conference Challenge.
