Bentley Women’s Basketball Looks to Bounce Back Wednesday at Saint Rose

WALTHAM, Mass. – Eight days after a difficult loss to Le Moyne College, the Bentley University women's basketball team returns to action Wednesday evening with a 5:30 pm game at The College of Saint Rose. The game from the Daniel Nolan Gymnasium in Albany, N.Y. will be streamed over the NE10 NOW Digital Network.

Fans from visiting teams will not be permitted to attend the game.

Bentley, which has faced the country's fourth most difficult Division II schedule, is 7-4 overall, 5-4 against Division II competition and 5-2 in the Northeast-10, good for second place in the Northeast division.

Saint Rose, 3-6 overall and 3-3 NE10, will be playing for the first time in a month. The Golden Knights have had five games decided by four points or less, including three by a single point. That includes the last two contests, a 59-58 loss to Roberts Wesleyan Dec. 10 and a 52-51 win over St. Michael's Dec. 18.

Offense has been an issue for the Falcons in the four losses,  all of which have come against teams that currently have two or fewer losses. In the four games, Bentley has averaged just 51.3 points on 33 percent shooting.

On the other hand, Bentley has put up 76.7 points and a .476 field goal percentage in the seven wins.

Junior guard Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) tops the scoring list for the Falcons, averaging 14.7 overall and 16.3 in conference play after twice putting up 25 points. She's made 88 percent of her free throws and has buried 26 from downtown.

Six-foot forward and Bucknell graduate Autumn Ceppi (Bedford/Dana Hall) follows at 13.1 points and leads the team in rebounds, assists and steals. Over the last five games, her scoring has climbed to 16 points.

Bentley's third double-figure scorer is senior guard Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wis./Appleton North HS). She's been on target on 40 percent of her threes this season while producing 10.4 points a game.

Freshman forward Kylie DuCharme (Wilmington/Wilmington HS), Bentley's top offensive rebounder, is coming off a career-high 10 points in the Le Moyne game.

Saint Rose, the lowest scoring team in the conference at 54.0, owns shooting percentages of .365 overall, .243 from three and .583 from the foul stripe.

The Golden Knights' top scorer and rebounder is fifth-year forward Nina Fedullo, at 10.2 points and 6.8 boards per game. Junior guard Becca Townes follows at 9.4 points per game and is second in the conference in steals (2.4).

Bentley has won five straight and nine of the last ten in the series, including 76-56 Jan. 22, 2020 in the most recent encounter. In that one, Brekke led the way with 18 points and four of the Falcons' ten three-balls.

After returning from Saint Rose, the Bentley coaching staff will turn their sights to Saturday's home game against American International.
