Bentley Takes 4-0 NE10 Record in Tuesday Showdown with 6-1 Southern N.H.

WALTHAM, Mass. – A key early season matchup in Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball will take place Tuesday night when the Bentley University Falcons travel to Manchester, N.H. to take on Southern New Hampshire University. Game time at the SNHU Field House is 5:30 pm and a webcast will be available on NE10 NOW.

Bentley, 5-2 overall, is unbeaten in four conference games, including 78-65 over Franklin Pierce on Saturday.  Southern New Hampshire (6-1, 2-1 NE10) owns a four-game winning streak and is the NE10's first six-win team.

Against Franklin Pierce, Bentley outscored the Ravens 44-27 in the middle two stanzas and maintained a double-figure lead throughout the fourth quarter. In the second and third combined, Coach C White's Falcons shot 52 percent and limited the opponents to just 10 of 32 from the field.

Graduate forward Autumn Ceppi (Bedford/Dana Hall HS) was outstanding as she set career-bests for points (23) and rebounds (18). She made 10 of 16 shots overall, virtually from around the basket, and delivered five assists.

That performance lifted Ceppi's season production to 12.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 blocks.

Bentley's other two double figure scorers are the backcourt tandem of Ella Thompson (Greenwood, Ind./Center Grove HS) and Kari Brekke (Appleton, Wis./ Appleton North HS). Thompson leads the team with a 14.4 average and Brekke is currently at 11.0.

Sophomore guard Maggie Whitmore (South Portland, Maine/South Portland HS) and senior forward Kolleen Bouchard (Houlton, Maine/Houlton HS) are next on the scoring list, at 7.9 and 7.3 points respectively. In Saturday's win, Whitmore, with 13 points and eight rebounds, established new career bests in those categories.

Four Southern New Hampshire starters account for 70 percent of the team's scoring with guards Gyanna Russell and Adriana Timberlane both owning averages about 15 points, and guard Karlee Ziliak at 10.7.

Six-foot-one Meg Knollmeyer, who scores 10.9 a game, is the conference's top rebounder with 14.9 a game. Earlier this season, the NYIT transfer had 26 against Georgian Court and 22 against Saint Anselm.

Bentley has won four straight and seven of the last nine times the two teams have met, but the games have generally been close. Only one of the seven wins were decided by double figures.

Following Tuesday's game, Bentley will be off until Dec. 18-19 when they visit Holy Family and Molloy.
