Gemma Earns 2nd Northeast-10 Spalding Player of the Week Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second time this season and the fifth time in her career, Bentley University junior forward Jen Gemma (Milton/Fontbonne Academy) has been selected as the Spalding Women's Basketball Player of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference. She's the first multi-time recipient of the honor this year.

Gemma, a first-team All-Conference selection last season, earned her latest honor after leading the 9-2 Falcons to a 61-54 win at LIU Post Sunday. She put up her seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 23 points and ten rebounds in 29 minutes of action. Included were 11 points in the opening quarter, tying her own school best for points in a quarter.

Gemma is the NE-10's only 20-point scorer, averaging 20.4 points, and is second in rebounds at 10.4. As a sophomore, she became the first Barbara Stevens-coached Bentley player to achieve a double-double for a season, providing the Falcons with a conference-best 19.5 points and 10.2 boards.

Gemma reached the 1,000-point milestone earlier this month and is currently 30th on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,083 points. Her career scoring average of 15.3 is the third best achieved by a Falcon.

Bentley returns to action Dec. 30 with a home game against Bridgeport.
