Home Runs by Krause & Mankins Lead Bentley Past Post 7-3 in 2nd Game of the Day

LAKE WORTH, Fla. – Sophomore left fielder Jordan Krause (San Pedro, Calif./San Pedro HS) and senior first baseman Kaylee Mankins (North Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan HS) each homered to give Bentley University a 7-3 win over Post University in non-conference softball Thursday afternoon.

Earlier in the day, the Falcons were blanked by sophomore Jayden Casebolt (Newburgh, Ind.) and the eighth-ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds, 5-0.

Bentley, after falling behind Post 3-0, drew even with three runs in the bottom of the third. Krause hit her sixth career home run with senior third baseman Jess Trahan (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack HS) scoring on the play. Later in the inning, sophomore Katie Welch (Monroe, Conn./Masuk HS) had an RBI single.

In the fourth, graduate designated player Ella Hillier (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin HS) singled up the middle to give Bentley a 4-3 lead and Mankins followed with a three-run blast to complete the day's scored. It was her seventh career home run.

Sophomore Dahlia Fink (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame HS) turned in a complete game performance to earn her fourth win of the season. She gave up seven hits and struck out two.

Bentley's 12 hits included three by Krause, who is now hitting a lofty .511. Hillier, Trahan and Mankins each had two hits as the Falcons' two-through-five hitters were a combined 9 for 14.

Nationally ranked UIndy (23-3) did its scoring early with two runs in the first, two more in the second and one in the third. That was more than enough for the 5-0 Casebolt, who struck out six and walked two.

Bentley's five hits included two from Trahan and senior second baseman Katherine Noftall (Ipswich, Mass./Ipswich HS).

Bentley, 8-6, will wrap up its ten-game Florida trip Friday with games against Hillsdale and Slippery Rock.
