Bentley Places 4 on All-Northeast-10 Softball Team

WALTHAM, Mass. – Four Bentley University Falcons, including graduate student Stacey Korotsky (Raynham/Bridgewater-Raynham HS), were recognized Wednesday when the Northeast-10 Conference announced its 2021 All-Conference softball team.

Korotsky was named to the All-Conference second team for the second time and was joined on the second-team by sophomore first baseman Kaylee Mankins (North Attleboro/Bishop Feehan HS). The third team included Bentley junior catcher Ella Hillier (Tualatin, Ore./Tualatin HS) for the second time in three years.

In addition, Mankins and freshman designated player Kylee Amato (Bergenfield, N.J./Acad. of the Holy Angels) were selected to the NE10 All-Rookie team.

Korotsky, whose previous All-Conference accolade came as a sophomore in 2018, finished her career with 153 hits, second most in program history, and a school-record 150 hits. She batted .306 in exactly 500 at bats, and scored 77 runs in 156 games.

This past season, which ended Tuesday with a 1-0 loss at Southern New Hampshire in the opening round of the NE10 championships, saw Korotsky hit .325 with 27 hits and 12 runs scored in 25 games.

Mankins, in her first full season after having her freshman year curtailed by the pandemic, led in batting (.342), home runs (4) and RBI (21) this spring after having nine hits and one homer in 35 at bats in 2020. Against Stonehill on March 31, she became the first player in program history to hit two home runs in a game. Defensively, Mankins had a .984 fielding percentage at first with only two miscues.

Hillier had a solid season both at the plate and behind the plate. She hit a career-best .325 with a team-leading 16 RBI and 11 runs scored. Her 26 hits included nine doubles, three triples and a home run. She was second on the team in both slugging (.550) and on base percentage (.550), and was fourth in batting average.

Amato stepped up during her freshman year, appearing in 18 games and batting .333 with her 17 hits including four doubles. She scored seven times and drove in the same number of runs. She had four multi-hit games, including three at Franklin Pierce Apr. 22.

Bentley finished the season with a 9-16 record, including five losses by a single run.
