Connor & Ferris Recognized by Northeast-10

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University sophomore left fielder Shannon Connor (West Haven, Conn./West Haven HS) has been selected to the All-Northeast-10 Conference softball third team, and the NE-10 All-Rookie team includes Bentley freshman lefty Kelly Ferris (Seymour, Conn./Seymour HS).

Connor led the Falcons in hitting for the second straight year, with her .336 average an improvement of 45 points over her freshman season. The Falcons' leadoff hitter also led the club in both on base percentage (.421) and slugging percentage (.464) with her 37 hits including five doubles, three triples and an inside the park home run.

Connor hit .346 in conference games, including .381 in Northeast Division contests, and connected at a .357 clip with a .444 on base percentage over the second half of the season.

Connor finished her sophomore year with a .308 career average.

Ferris, who pitched primarily out of the bullpen (20 appearances with six starts), pitched better than her 2-4 record would indicate. Her ERA of 1.43 in 73.1 innings was the best by a Falcon in a decade, the fifth best in program history and second in the NE-10 this spring. She pitched a five-hit shutout against Franklin Pierce April 13, and her other victory came in relief against Assumption.

In her six starts, Ferris pitched to a 1.17 ERA. She struck out a total of 52, including eight in 4.1 innings against Merrimack April 10.

Bentley was 8-6-1 over its final 15 games and finished the year at 16-27-1.
