Trio Named Bentley Men’s Cross Country Captains

WALTHAM, Mass. – Tim Bolick (Hopkinton/Hopkinton HS), Nik Haas (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey HS) and Rupak Darshan Mehta (Howell, N.J./Howell HS), a trio of seniors, have been named captains of the 2016 Bentley University men's cross country team, coach Kevin Curtin announced.

Bentley, which finished second in the NCAA Division II East Region last fall to earn a trip to the NCAA Championships, holds that same position in this year's preseason USTFCCCA regional rankings and just missed out on cracking the preseason top 25.

Haas was the only one of the three who saw action last fall as both Bolick was studying abroad in Australia and Mehta was sidelined by injury. Haas was 20th overall in the East Regional and 26th in the Northeast-10 Championships, and was the Falcons' top runner at the nationals, placing 136th overall.

Mehta was 38th in the 2014 NE-10 championships and 39th in the East Regional that same year. Bolick last ran in a cross country race as a freshman in 2013 when he was 82nd overall in the conference championships.

Bentley will open its 2016 schedule Sunday with the Shacklette Invitational at Saint Anselm College. This month's schedule also includes the Bruce Kirsch Cross Country Cup in Hopkinton, N.H. Sept. 17 and a trip to Nashville for the Trevecca Division II Showcase a week later.
