Sihvonen Repeats as NE10 Field Athlete of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University senior All-America Holt Sihvonen (Lebanon, Conn./ Lyman Memorial HS) has been selected as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week and the seventh time in his career.

Sihvonen finished first in the javelin during the 8th annual Yellow Jacket Invitational at American International on Saturday with a throw of 196'4" (59.84m) on his first attempt of the day. The winning margin for the 2017 Northeast-10 Men's Field Athlete of the Year was nearly 10 feet.

Bentley also had two student-athletes selected for the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll, juniors Cody Murphy (Dunbarton, N.H./Goffstown HS) and Stephanie Mattson (Smithfield, R.I./Smithfield HS).

Murphy captured the 10,000 meters during the Yellow Jacket Invitational with his time of 32:41.81 putting him at number two on the Northeast-10 performance list. He crossed the line 59.27 seconds before the runner-up, Hartford's Willy Pierce.

Mattson was a double-winner at AIC, capturing the 400 meters in 57.79 seconds, more than 3 seconds ahead of the number two runner, and the triple jump in 36'11.75" (11.27m) with a winning margin of seven-and-a-half inches. Both of those performances put her at number two in the season's NE10 performance list.  She also ran a leg on the Falcons' 4x400 relay that was second in 4:11.81.

This Saturday, Bentley will be competing at both the UC San Diego Triton Invitational and the Connecticut College Silfen Invitational.
