Horwitz and Chadha Tabbed as NE10 Weekly Award Winners
WALTHAM, Mass. – Coming off strong performances on the courts, two Falcons were tabbed as the Northeast 10's weekly award winners on Tuesday. Gabe Horwitz was named the Player of the Week and Ansh Chadha the Rookie of the Week.
The Falcons went 2-1 last week by beating Division I Stonehill and NE10 rival Saint Michael's, and Horwitz and Chadha played big roles.
Horwitz was 6-0 overall during the week, winning all three of his singles matches in the No. 2 position and all three doubles matches in No. 2 with partner Nikolai Pran.
Against the Skyhawks he was a 6-3, 6-4 winner in singles and 6-4 in doubles. In Sunday's victory over the Purple Knights, he won his matches 6-0, 6-0 in singles and 6-3 in doubles.
Horwitz began the week against Franklin Pierce on April 8 with wins of 6-1, 6-2 in singles and 7-6 in doubles.
Chadha is the Rookie of the Week for the third time this season.
He was 2-1 in No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph against the Skyhawks and a 6-0, 6-1 victory against the Purple Knights. He also won in No. 3 doubles against Stonehill.
The Falcons are next in action on April 16 at Southern New Hampshire.
