Soifer Wins in Singles but Bentley Falls to No. 24 Rollins 6-1

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Bentley University men's tennis team got its spring break trip underway on Monday with a tough matchup against Rollins College, ranked No. 24 in Division II, and the Tars came away with a 6-1 victory.

Junior Jordan Soifer (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) earned Bentley's point with a victory in No. 3 singles. He defeated Andrea Brignacca in two sets, both in tiebreakers, 7-6 (6) and 7-6 (3).

Also competing for the Falcons in singles were Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn), in the No. 1 match, Max Bonte (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephens) in No. 2, Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) in No. 4, Gabe Horowitz (Lake Oswego, Ore./Lake Oswego) in No. 5 and freshman Andrew Broom (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale) in No. 6.

The doubles action saw the Tars win all three matches, but Bentley's team of Soifer and freshman Noah Monsanto (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) took the No. 3 match to a tiebreak. Playing against Rollins' team of Moritz Stenzerand and Charle Putrino, the Tars emerged with a 7-6 (4) victory.

Bentley (5-5) continues its spring break trip on Wednesday when they take on St. Lawrence.
