Soifer Wins in Singles but Bentley Falls to Queens (NY)

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Junior Jordan Soifer (Stamford, Conn./Westhill) won his singles match, but the Bentley men's tennis team fell to Queens (NY) 6-1 on Saturday.

Soifer won the No. 4 singles match over Queens' Moritz Borges. Soifer took the first set 6-4 then closed out the match with a 6-3 victory in the second set.

Graduate student Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) went to three sets in the No. 1 match against nationally ranked Kareem Rashad. Rashad won the first set 6-2, but Weitz rallied and won the second set 6-2. Rashad though pulled out the match with a 6-2 win in the third set.

Also competing for Bentley in singles were Max Bonte (Bradenton, Fla./St. Stephens) in No. 2, Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) in No. 3, Alex Novins (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) in No. 5 and Noah Monsanto (Woodbridge, N.J./Woodbridge) in No. 6

Queens had taken a 1-0 lead by sweeping the doubles matches.

The Falcons (5-4) are next scheduled to compete on March 15 against Rollins for the start of their spring break trip.
