Fuca, Gilman, Aulson & Weitz Earn NE10 All-Conference Recognition

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University men's tennis players Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex), Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah), Connor Aulson (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket) and Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) have all earned All-Conference recognition from the Northeast-10.

Fuca received two All-Conference recognitions for the third year in a row. For this season, he is second team in No. 5 singles and third team in No. 2 doubles. Gilman was named third team All-Conference in No. 2 doubles as well. Aulson earned first team All-Conference honors for No. 6 singles. Both Weitz and Aulson were selected to the All-Rookie team.

The All-Conference teams are based on regular season records in NE10 matches only. A player must have played at least 50 percent of his matches in a specific flight to be eligible for All-Conference consideration in that flight.

Fuca went 4-2 in No. 5 singles and was 6-2 in NE10 matches overall. Some of his notable wins in the regular season came against Le Moyne, Merrimack, Stonehill and Adelphi. This is fifth and sixth All-Conference recognitions of his career so far, along with first team No. 5 singles and first team No. 3 doubles (2015-16), third team No. 5 singles and second team No. 3 doubles (2016-17).

As a doubles team, Gilman and Fuca garnered All-Conference honors for the third straight season, this time in the No. 2 flight on the third team. They went 4-2 in the No. 2 flight and 5-2 in NE10 matches overall, with wins over the likes of Merrimack and Southern New Hampshire.

The pair have previously been chosen first team in No. 3 (2015-16) and second team in No. 3 (2016-17).

Aulson had a standout freshman season for the Falcons. In No. 6 singles he went 4-0 and was 6-0 in NE10 matches overall. Including non-conference matches and tournaments in the regular season, he posted a 16-4 singles record, with a 12 match winning streak.

Weitz had a similarly impactful freshman season for head coach Rick Edelman's squad. He was 5-3 in NE10 singles matches, primarily playing in the No. 4 position, and was 18-4 in singles overall with an 11 match winning streak at one point.

All four of Bentley's All-Conference honorees won points in yesterday's 5-1 first round victory over Franklin Pierce in the NE10 Championships. The Falcons will now face the top seed Southern New Hampshire in the semifinals on Thursday. That match will get underway at 9:00 am at the Executive Health and Sports Center in Manchester, N.H.
