Weitz Claims Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week Award

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley University's Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) has claimed the Northeast-10 men's tennis Rookie of the Week award, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Weitz had a 4-0 combined record in three matches last week, which Bentley went 2-1 in. In singles, he posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the No. 3 match against MIT, and ended the week with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match against Endicott, a match Bentley won 9-0.

In doubles, Weitz and teammate Dylan Granat combined for an 8-5 victory in the No. 2 match against Saint Michael's, which the Falcons won 9-0 in their first NE10 match of the season. Against Endicott, he and George Samander were 8-4 winners in the No. 1 match.

Weitz is a perfect 7-0 in singles matches this season so far, including a three sets win in the No. 4 singles match against Boston College on Feb. 18. He is the second Falcon this season to earn Rookie of the Week honors, after Connor Aulson won the award twice in the fall.

Bentley is now set to embark on its annual spring break trip to Florida, which begins on March 4 against Florida Tech, and features three other matches over the course of the week.
