Team Effort Helps Bentley Defeat Post 5-4

WALTHAM, Mass. – Six different players won in either singles or doubles as the Bentley men's tennis team defeated Post 5-4 on Sunday in a non-conference match.

The Falcons improve to 2-0 in their fall season with the win over Post, which was in the NCAA East Regional last season.

Bentley won two of the three doubles matches, then split the singles matches to earn the 5-4 victory.

Seniors Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao) won the No. 1 doubles match for the Falcons, 8-4, and Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) and Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) took the No. 3 doubles contest, 8-4.

In singles, Samander earned his second victory of the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 2 match over Jon Compres. Junior Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) picked up a point for Bentley with a 6-3, 6-3 win in the No. 3 match over Ivan Rajevac, and freshman Daniel Weitz (Roslyn, N.Y./Roslyn) defeated Ludvig Henrikson 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 4 spot.

Bentley will go for a third straight win on Wednesday when they host Nichols at 3:00 pm.
