Bentley Sweeps Division I Holy Cross 7-0

WORCESTER, Mass. – Bentley stepped out of Northeast-10 play on Sunday to take a Division I opponent in Holy Cross, and came away with a 7-0 sweep on Sunday afternoon for its 10th win of the season.

Bentley swept the doubles matches, doubles count for one point in Division I, to give them a 1-0 lead going into singles. The Falcons swept those singles matches as well for 7-0 victory.

Two players, sophomore Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) and freshman Kendall Au (Essex Fells, N.J./West Essex) extended winning streaks in singles. Gilman won his seventh straight with a 6-2, 6-7, 13-11 victory over Tom Cimini in the No. 5 position. Au won for the sixth consecutive match, with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Matt Murphy in the No. 6 position.

In the No. 1 position, junior Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) ran out a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Henry Harrs. Fellow junior George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) posted a 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Pat O'Shea in the No. 2 match.

Bentley also saw singles wins from Dylan Granat (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) in the No. 3 match, 6-2, 7-5 over Peter Campito in the No. 3 match, and sophomore Michael Fuca (Manchester, Mass./Manchester-Essex) by a 6-3, 6-2 victory in the No. 4 position.

The victory improved Bentley's overall record to 10-6 on the season. They'll jump back in NE10 play on Wednesday at Assumption.
