Bentley Sweeps Past Saint Anselm 9-0

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bentley men's tennis team swept past Saint Anselm 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the penultimate Northeast-10 match of the regular season.

The victory firmed up Bentley's position in the Northeast-10 playoffs, which begin next week. The top-four teams host, the third and fourth seeds in the quarterfinals, and Bentley is currently 4th with a 6-3 conference mark.

The team was also ranked No. 8 in the NCAA East Region rankings that came out Wednesday, with the top-seven making the final field out of the region.

Bentley took all three doubles matches, highlighted by an 8-0 sweep by the tandem of Brendan McCarthy (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) and George Samander (Willemstad, Curacao/ISC) in the No. 1 match.

In singles McCarthy cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 1 match. While junior Chase Rosa (Hampton, N.H./Berwick) dropped just one game, 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 3 match. Daniel Camacho (Bogota, Colombia) rallied in the No. 4 match after he dropped the first set, 5-7, 6-0, 10-7, and Brett Gilman (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) and Nick Hatcher (Danbury, Conn./Immaculate) were 6-2, 6-2 and 6-4, 6-0 winners in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively.

The Falcons are now 13-6 on the season overall. They visit Post in a non-conference match tomorrow before they host AIC on Saturday in the final match of the regular season.
