Men’s Tennis Set to Host So. New Hampshire in NE-10 Semis Thursday

WALTHAM, Mass. – The second-seeded and two-time defending Northeast-10 champions Bentley Falcons will get their title defense underway Thursday afternoon when they host third-seeded So. New Hampshire in the NE-10 Men's Tennis semifinals at 2:00 p.m.

Bentley finished the NE-10 regular season at 10-1 and they've gone 31-2 in regular season conference matches since the start of the 2009-10 season. Their second-place finish this season earned them a bye to the semifinals with the field reduced to six teams for the 2012 championships.

Earlier on Wednesday, the conference announced that Bentley placed a league-high seven players on the All-Conference teams. Junior Lucas Wever (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Chapel School) led the way with his second straight selection to the second team in first-flight singles with an 8-1 record.

The Falcons were also the only club in the conference to be represented on the All-Conference teams in every singles flight.

So. New Hampshire went 9-2 in the NE-10 this season to finish third. They beat Le Moyne in the first round 5-0 on Tuesday to setup this match. The Penmen had three players earn All-Conference honors in singles and two doubles teams. Sophomore Juan Arango-Camp was named first team All-Conference in second-flight singles, and Campo and sophomore Alex Mukdaprakorn were named first team All-Conference in first-flight doubles.

Bentley, which beat So. New Hampshire 5-4 in the finals last season to claim its second straight conference title, and in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as well, defeated the Penmen 7-2 in the regular season meeting just four days ago.

The winner of this match will meet either top-seeded Merrimack or fourth-seeded Stonehill in the finals on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
