Bentley Men’s Tennis Selected to Host NCAA East Region #2, Will Face Southern New Hampshire Monday

WALTHAM, Mass. -- After earning the Northeast-10 Conference's automatic berth by virtue of winning the conference tournament, Bentley University has been selected to host East Region #2 of the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Championships.

The NCAA announced the field for the 48-team tournament Tuesday night and Bentley was seeded third in the seven-team East Region. Four teams will be participating in the East Region #2 at Bentley with the Falcons joined by conference rival Southern New Hampshire University, Queens College (N.Y.) and Phiadelphia Sciences.

Bentley (13-7) will meet sixth-seeded Southern New Hampshire (12-6) Monday at 10 am in a rematch of this past Saturday's Northeast-10 championship match, and Queens (17-5), the second seed, will take on Philadelphia Sciences (9-7), at 1 pm.  The two winners will square off at 12 noon Tuesday with the survivor advancing to the championships, which will be held May 11-14 in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The other half of the East Region will be hosted by Merrimack College, with fourth-seeded Philadelphia University (17-6) taking on the 17-5 Warriors and the winner of that match advancing to play top-seeded Concordia College (N.Y.) (21-2).

Bentley will be making its third straight appearance in the NCAA tourney, its fifth in its last six years and its seventh overall.

Bentley and Southern New Hampshire split their two matches this season with each winning on the other's home court. SNHU snapped the Falcons' 22-match conference winning streak on Apr. 3, 6-3, and the Falcons rallied for a 5-4 win and their second straight NE-10 playoff title on Saturday in the NE-10 final at the Allard Center in Goffstown, N.H.
