Ivanchikov and 200 Medley Relay Win Bronze Medals, Lehr Sets School Record in 50 Back at NE10s

WORCESTER, Mass. – Daniel Ivanchikov won bronze in the 200 freestyle, and he helped the 200 medley relay team take home bronze on the third day of competition of the Northeast 10 Men's Swimming and Diving Championship. Danny Lehr set a school record in the 50 backstroke at 23.78 in the first leg of the 200 medley relay.

As a team, Bentley finished day three in second place with 485 points. Southern Connecticut leads the way with 622 points.

A freshman, Ivanchikov increased his medal haul to three after he won silver with the 800 free relay team on Thursday.

His time in the 200 free of 1:44.62 was a season best for both himself and the team.

The Falcons did well in the 200 free with Patrick Tarka and Tyler Marzano also in the top-eight. Tarka was fifth at 1:46.50 and Marzano sixth at 1:48.31. Tarka's time was a personal best and Marzano's a season best. Peter Epp swam a personal best in the finals at 1:48.41

The 200 medley relay team had Lehr swim the leadoff backstroke leg, followed by Kenneth Ryu in the second breaststroke leg, Ivanchickov the third butterfly leg and Marzano the fourth freestyle leg.

Lehr's new school record in the 50 back of 23.78 bested the previous record of 23.88, which was set by Oscar Chang in 2022.

The team finished with a time of 1:33.23. Adelphi took gold and Saint Rose silver.

The 100 backstroke finals saw Lehr just miss out on a medal. He finished fourth at 51.66, just .31 seconds behind Adelphi's Eric Slavin in third. Carter Ferrara (53.36), Griffin Keiliher (54.72) and Jakub Zukowski (55.31) competed in the finals as well.

Lehr was also in the finals of the 100 fly. He was seventh at 51.84, a personal best and team best for the season. Joey Twomey was right behind him for eighth at 51.86. Peter Epp was also in the finals at 53.70, a season best for him.

Ryu and Wellington Chen both swam season bests in the 100 breaststroke finals at 59.23 and 1:00.76, respectively.

In the 1-meter diving finals, Owen Angkatavanich placed sixth with a score of 273.55.

The final day of competition is on Sunday with five individual finals and the 400 free relay scheduled.
