Ye, Busser Among Bentley’s Winners as Falcons Down Keene State

KEENE, N.H. – Led by senior Owen Busser (Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford HS) and freshman Calvin Ye (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber HS), the Bentley University men's swimming and diving team stayed unbeaten with a 172-95 win at Keene State College Saturday afternoon.

Thirteen Falcons won individual events with both Busser and Ye double-winners. Busser swept the diving with scorers of 212.77 from the one-meter board and 170.79 off the three-meter. Ye turned in winning performances in the 50 yard backstroke (26.59) and the 100 freestyle (49.81).

Ye also anchored Bentley's 200 free relay to a first-place finish in 1:33.53. That quartet also included sophomore Andrew Marcus (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin HS), sophomore Sergio Torres (Guaynabo, P.R./Commonwealth-Parkville School) and junior Michael Motosi (Ellington, Conn./Ellington HS).

Bentley, 5-0, swept the five freestyle events. In addition to Ye in the 100, those winners were sophomore Andrew Matjucha (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) in the 50 (23.01), freshman Tyler Marzano (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley HS) in the 200 (1:53.27), junior Ryan Looney (Wilton, Conn./Wilton HS) in the 500 (5:10.11) and freshman Joey Twomey (Sebastian, Fla./Sebastian River HS) in the 1000 (10:41.97).

The Falcons also captured both breaststroke races with grad student Alec Lanza (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead HS) swimming the 50 in 28.43, a season-best by a Northeast-10 competitor, and junior Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) the 100 in 1:01.47.

Rounding out the list of individual winners for the Falcons were senior Oscar Chang (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hallow Hills West)  in the 100 butterfly (53.81), classmate Zach Papsco (Northport, N.Y./Northport HS) in the 100 back (58.85) and freshman Eddy Erofeyev (Longmeadow, Mass./Longmeadow HS) in the 200 individual medley (2:08.03).

The closest race of the meet was the 200 medley relay where one Falcon quartet edged another by .07 seconds. The winning group of Looney, freshman Kenneth Ryu (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola HS), Twomey and senior Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS) won by a 14:26.7.

The next action for the Falcons is the WPI Gompei Invitational Dec. 3-5.
