Bentley Swim Teams Recognized by CSCAA for Academic Success

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Bentley University men's and women's swimming and diving teams received Scholar All-America Team Awards from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for their academic performance during the spring semester.

Bentley was one of 46 Division II institutions to have both its men's and women's teams recognized, and one of two Northeast-10 Conference programs to have both teams honored. The women's team posted a 3.65 grade point average during the spring, 17th best in Division II and the men's team had a 3.55, fifth best.

Sixteen of the 24 members of the women's team had at least a 3.50 during the semester and ten were at 3.75 or better. On the men's team, 18 of 32 achieved at least a 3.50 and a dozen posted at least a 3.75.

"Coach (Mary Kay) Samko continues to set the standard for success both in the pool and the classroom," noted CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart. "These are some of the best ambassadors of Bentley and Athletic Director Vaughn Williams, President Brent Chrite, and Faculty Athletic Representative Scott Callan can and should be proud of these 57 men and women."

The CSCAA presents the Team Scholar All-America Award to swimming and diving programs who earn a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. This was the 13th straight semester that both the Bentley men and women have been honored.

Like so many teams, the 2020-21 Bentley swimming teams did not compete during the 2020-21 season.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA – the oldest organization of college coaches in American – is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
