Bentley Blue Edges Bentley Black in Intrasquad Scrimmage, 248-237

WALTHAM, Mass. – Down a point entering the final two relays, the Bentley University Blue team pulled out a 248-237 victory over the Bentley Black team during an intrasquad swim meet at the Dana Center Friday night.

The Blue team pulled within five points by capturing the 200 yard free relay in 1:43.42. Junior Taylor Gangi (Waltham/Waltham HS) led off and was followed by freshman Emily Blatt (Westford/ Westford Academy) and sophomores Marissa Adamo (Hackettstown, N.J./Mount Olive HS) and Kate Galvin (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern HS).

The men's 200 free relay team wrapped up the victory for the Blue. Junior Mark Zoda (Nashua, N.H./Bishop Guertin HS), sophomores Anthony Vizental (Concord, Calif./Clayton Valley HS) and Ryan Looney (Wilton, Conn./Wilton HS), and senior Paul Homorodean (Milford, Conn./Joseph A. Foran HS) combined for a time of 1:28.14.

Homorodean, Vizental and Zoda all had strong showings for the Bentley men. In addition to being part of the 200 free relay, they were part of the winning 200 medley relay team (1:56.49) and each won two individual events. Homorodean swam the 100 fly in 52.68 and the 100 breast in 1:00.98, and Zoda achieved times of 21.79 in the 50 free and 47.75 in the 100 free. Vizental, the 2020 Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year, swam the 200 free in 1:47.20 and the 200 individual medley in 1:58.59.

The top performers for the women's team included Galvin, sophomore Mary Huminski (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand HS) and freshman Emma Hapkiewicz (South Windsor, Conn./ South Windsor HS). Galvin achieved times of 25.27 seconds in the 50 free and 54.77 in the 100 free. Huminski, the 2020 NE10 Women's Diver of the Year, amassed 277.57 points from the one-meter board and 180.75 from the three meter.  Hapkiewicz posted times of 5:19.74 in the 500 free and 2:03.07 in the 200 free.
