Bentley Gains NE10 Men’s Relay Team of the Week Honors for 6th Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the sixth time this season, a quartet of Bentley University swimmers have been recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference Men's Relay Team of the Week. Earning the latest honor was the 400 yard free relay team for their performance at Babson College.

Bentley turned in the conference's fastest time of the week in the event, finishing in 3:16.85. Seniors Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS and Jonny Boains (Unionville, Conn./Farmington HS) were followed into the pool by sophomore Alper Alkaya (Milan, Italy) and junior Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS).

Each of the six Bentley relay teams that has been honored this season has included Vukas. Alkaya was a participant in five of the six, McGeary four times and Boains three times.

McGeary and four other Bentley swimmers and divers were recognized by the Northeast-10 this week with inclusion on the conference's Weekly Honor Roll. They are seniors Juan Quiroga (Bogota, Colombia) and Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS), along with junior Kate Kaduboski (Dedham/Dedham HS) and sophomore Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS).

At Babson in the Falcons' penultimate dual meet of the season, McGeary turned in the NE10's second fastest 1000 freestyle time of the season, finishing first in 10:03.61. He also took first in the 500 free (4:55.35) as well as participating in the relay.

Kaduboski finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:01.10), Niemiec was victorious in the 200 free (2:02.38) and both helped Bentley capture both the 400 free relay (3:67.37) and the 400 medley relay (4:09.72).

Quiroga and Logozzo swept diving in the Falcons' win at Babson. Quiroga posted scores of 207.15 in the one-meter competition and 186.75 in the three-meter while Logozzo's scores were 227.77 and 225.67.
