Karam’s 2 Wins Not Enough for Bentley to Defeat Keene State

KEENE, N.H. – Bentley University sophomore Aidan Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) prevailed in the meet's two longest races, but it wasn't enough for the Falcons to beat Keene State College Saturday afternoon in men's college swimming at the Keene State pool. The Owls captured 11 of 16 events to win 155-144.

Karam recorded winning times of 10:12.17 in the 1000 yard freestyle (10:12.17) and 4:55.88 in the 500 free. The Falcons also went second in both events with freshman Ryan McGeary (Paramus, N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) swimming the 1000 in 10:21.79 and senior Owen Karl (Rochester, N.Y./ Brighton HS) posting a 4:59.84 in the 500.

Karl and McGeary each had a second runner-up finish for the Falcons, in the 200 free (1:50.12) and the 200 breaststroke (2:17.28) respectively.

Bentley's other individual win in the swimming events was recorded by senior Timothy Connolly (Dorchester, Mass./Boston Latin Academy) in the 100 backstroke (56.07) with Falcon sophomore Christopher Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) following in second (56.22).

Senior diver Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) saw his winning streak halted at 14 with a second in the one-meter diving (279.10). However, he bounced back to capture the three-meter with a 276.50.

Bentley's other victory came in the meet's final event, the 200 free relay. Vukas, junior Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) and seniors Nick Toselli (Barrington, R.I./Barrington HS) and Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) combined for a time of 1:29.24.

Bentley, 4-5, will look to get back to .500 Tuesday at Babson.
