Bridge Collects NE-10 Men’s Diving Athlete of the Week Award for 15th Time

WALTHAM, Mass. – For the third time this season and the 15th time in his career, Bentley University senior Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) has been selected as the Men's Diving Athlete of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference.

During the Gompei Invitational at WPI, Bridge swept the diving with winning scores of 420.10 on the one-meter board and 431.85 on the three-meter. He took the latter by 49.55 points and had a margin of victory of 42.25 points in the one-meter.

Bridge, who has met the standard to make a third trip to the NCAA Division II pre-qualification meet, has been undefeated in diving in the team's last four meets.

Also recognized by the conference with selection to the NE-10 Weekly Honor Roll were two members of Bentley's women's team, junior Kaitin McGahie (Boylston/Tahanto Regional HS) and sophomore Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Francis T. Maloney HS).

McGahie, during the Gompei Invitational, twice broke her own school record in the 100 yard individual medley (1:00.97 in the prelims, 1:00.70 in the finals) and posted a winning time of 31.30 in the 50 breaststroke. She also was second in the 100 IM, third in the 50 free (24.71), fourth in the 200 free (1:57.68) and a pair of relays (200 free, 1:41.30, and 800, 7:52.41), fifth in the 100 free (53.74) and two relays (200 medley, 1:51.32, and 400 free, 3:38.53), and sixth in the 400 medley relay (4:07.24).

Niemiec had four top three individual finishes as she was second in the 200 individual medley (2:09.44) and the 200 breaststroke (2:28.10), and third in both the 100 IM (1:01.25) and the 400 IM (4:36.24). She was also eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.83) and part of five relays that placed in the top six.

Bentley closes out its first semester schedule Saturday with a home meet against Norwich University.
