Hanchar named NE10 Co-Defensive Player of the Year; Crompton NE10 Coach of the Year

WALTHAM, Mass. – Gary Crompton was voted the Northeast-10 Conference Coach of the Year, and Luke Hanchar the Co-Defensive Player of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday.

Crompton guided the Falcons to a second-place finish in the NE10 regular season standings after they were picked ninth in the preseason coaches' poll. That was the program's best regular season since 1996 and marked the 11th time he led them to the NE10 playoffs.

This is the second time Crompton has been voted NE10 Coach of the Year. The first time was in 2015.

Hanchar becomes the second Falcon ever to be named NE10 Defensive Player of the Year, with Weston Zeiner the first in 2012.

He played all 90 minutes in every match but one this season, and in the one match he didn't go the distance he was subbed off with just two minutes remaining. In all he logged 1358 minutes to lead the team.

In addition to being strong defensively he also provided an offensive threat with two goals and two assists.

Hanchar was also named first team All-Conference.

Forward Lukas Drahos and midfielders Evan Levine and Michael Haikal were voted second team All-Conference.

Drahos led the team with 16 points and tied for the team lead in both goals (five) and assists (six). Levine was second on the squad with 12 points. Haikal had six assists to tie for the team lead.

Both Drahos and Haikal tied for second in the NE10 in assists and Drahos was tied for eighth in the conference in points.

Antonio Santos, Michael Cagno and Zach Spitznagle were each chosen to the All-Rookie team.

Santos was a two-time Rookie of the Week during the regular season and finished his freshman year with four goals and three assists. Cagno notched two assists and Spitznagle had one goal and one assist.
