WALTHAM, Mass. – Graduate student Evan Levine scored in the 80th minute to help lift Bentley past Saint Rose 2-1 on Wednesday for a big three points in the Northeast-10 standings.
The Falcons and Golden Knights came into the game tied for fourth in the standings with 11 points, but Bentley with a game in-hand. The win sees the Falcons leap ahead with 14 points and into a tie for third place.
The winning goal started with Antonio Santos winning the ball off a Saint Rose throw-in and playing a pass to Christian Zarka. Zarka then quickly passed back to Santos, who fed a diagonal pass to Lukas Drahos in space down the left wing.
Drahos dribbled around a Saint Rose defender and fed a perfectly weighted ball to Levine running down the middle. Levine took a couple of dribbles, fought off a Saint Rose defender and beat the keeper with a shot to the far post from 18 yards out.
Bentley then saw out the final 10 minutes for the victory.
Saint Rose took an early lead with a goal in the 5th minute by Alejandro Aleo, but less than four minutes later the Falcons equalized.
Off a corner kick by Chad Meyers, Santos scored off a difficult volley inside the six-yard box for his third goal of the campaign.
