Men’s Soccer Goes for 3rd Straight Win Tuesday Night at AIC

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley will look to keep moving up the NE10 standings when they travel to Springfield on Tuesday night to take on American International at 7:00 PM.

 

A big three points

Bentley earned a big three points in the NE10 standings with a 1-0 victory over Southern New Hampshire at home on Saturday. Freshman Antonio Santos scored the game's only goal in the 46th minute. Shots were even at 8-8. Goalkeepers Nick Maldarella and Joe Griffin combined for the shutout with five saves.

A freshman, Santos was making his second career start and played 73 minutes. He was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

 

A look at the standings

As the regular season enters the final three weeks the NE10 standings are beginning to take shape. Franklin Pierce has created separation at the top with 18 points and Adelphi is in second with 12 points.

After that it's tightly bunched. The next seven teams are separated by just two points. Saint Michael's is in third with nine points, New Haven, Saint Rose and Saint Anselm are tied for fourth with eight points and Bentley, SNHU and AIC follow with seven points each.

 

Series history

Bentley leads AIC 34-11-3 in the all-time series that began in 1973. The Yellow Jackets have won the last two games in the series. Bentley's last win was on Sept. 28, 2019 with a 2-1 victory at home.
