Haikal’s Free Kick Goal Gives Bentley 1-0 Win at Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Bentley sophomore Michael Haikal scored on a brilliant free kick in the 81st minute to give Bentley a 1-0 win at Saint Anselm on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match.

With the match tied 0-0 Bentley was set up with a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, on the left side of the field. Haikal stepped up and drilled his shot into the top left corner for the goal to give the Falcons the a 1-0 lead.

Bentley outshot the Hawks 12-4 on the day. Keepers Nick Maldarella and Joe Griffin combined for the clean sheet.

The Falcons forced eight saves out of Saint Anselm's two keepers. David Hood and Alejandro Correal each made four saves in 45 minutes of action.

Haikal led Bentley with three shots on goal.

The Falcons improved to 1-1 on the season. They will be back at home on Saturday to host Holy Family at 1:00 PM.
