Bentley Qualifies for NE10 Postseason after Regular Season Finale with Southern Conn State

WALTHAM, Mass. – Bentley qualified for the 2022 Northeast-10 Men's Soccer Championship on the final day of the regular season. The Falcons, who were beaten by Southern Connecticut State 4-0 on Tuesday, will take on the top seed Franklin Pierce in the first round on Saturday.

Bentley finished the regular season tied for seventh in the standings with Le Moyne, both with 13 points. But because Le Moyne had the head-to-head tiebreaker, they will be the No. 7 seed and Bentley the No. 8 seed.

It's the 10th time the Falcons have reached the NE10 playoffs under head coach Gary Crompton, and after they were predicted to finish outside the top-eight in the NE10 Preseason Coaches' Poll.

Tuesday's match with SCSU was scoreless at halftime but the Owls, who will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament, surged ahead in the second half.

Defender Alessio Caradolfo scored off a corner kick in the 49th minute for a 1-0 lead. Just under five minutes later, SCSU made it 2-0 after forward Zach Tuccitto scored, and the Owls stretched their lead to three goals when Karim Said converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute.

Saturday's game against Franklin Pierce will be fourth time the two teams have met in the postseason. The others were in 2010 finals and the quarterfinals in 2012 and 2019.
