Fraser Scores but Bentley Falls to SNHU 2-1

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Sophomore Johann Fraser (Cambridge, Mass./Rindge & Latin) scored his 4th goal of the season, but Bentley fell to Southern New Hampshire on the road 2-1 on Saturday night.

Fraser fired home a shot in the 82nd minute to cut the Penmen's lead to 2-1, but the Falcons were unable to score again as the hosts hung on for the victory.

The goal started with a steal in the defensive end by grad student captain Roan Fitzpatrick (Coventry, Conn./East Catholic), who then fed a pass to Lukas Drahos (Melrose, Mass./Mystic Valley) near the center of the field. Drahos fought off a Penmen defender to send a through ball to Chad Meyers (East Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) down the right-hand side into Bentley's offensive end.

Meyers quickly spotted Fraser running down the left flank and fed him a pass. Fraser took one touch and blasted a shot past the SNHU keeper for the goal to make it a 2-1 game.

But with just eight minutes left on the clock, SNHU was able to see out the remaining time.

The game was scoreless at halftime as Falcons keeper Eduardo Bomfim (Salvador, Brazil) made four saves in the opening 45 minutes.

But just over six minutes into the second half, the Penmen scored twice in a span of 1:03. Midfielder Luca Shubitidze scored his 4th of the season in the 52nd minute, followed by forward Iago Perez's first of the season in the 53rd minute.

Bomfim, the reigning NE10 Goalie of the Week, finished with eight saves, one off his season high.

Bentley will be back in action on Tuesday when they host AIC at 3:00 PM.
